Jess has earned the History badge with the following work:
Three historical events that occurred on Jan. 31st:
1. Jan. 31st, 1917. Germany announces the renewal of unlimited submarine warfare in the Atlantic, and German torpedo-armed submarines prepare to attack any and all ships, including civilian passenger carriers, said to be sited in war-zone waters.
2. Jan. 31st, 1606. At Westminster in London, Guy Fawkes, a chief conspirator in the plot to blow up the British Parliament building, jumps to his death moments before his execution for treason.
3. Jan. 31st, 1950. U. S. President Harry S. Truman publicly announces his decision to support the development of the hydrogen bomb, a weapon theorized to be hundreds of times more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on Japan during World War II.
Jess has earned the Perceptions badge with the following work:
A movie in which the AOD is mentioned or depicted:
City of Angels (1998)
So it has been a long time since I have seen this movie, but it is about an angel who finds out he can become human to be able to be with the woman he loves. It involves love, sacrifice and a lot of heart ache, but is definitely a movie I would recommend. The AOD would be Nicolas Cage as he sits in the hospital with a dying man right at the beginning of the movie. I think this movie views death as something that needs to be taken seriously. It shows how death is the ending of life, but still the beginning of a new life. In a sense they are showing how if you die: love is lost. It's supposed to be a romantic movie so it is bound to not go further into detail about their views of death, but it shows death as painless except the pain of heart ache.
Jess has earned the Holidays badge with the following work:
Her own holiday for Andrew/John:
April 12th "Pact Night"
The day I started being a part of JABB.
That's the holiday in which I lock myself in my room and watch every possible Andrewesque TBAA episode. On the top of the list are The Journalist, The Pact, My Dinner With Andrew, The Feather On The Breath Of God (so it wasn't a huge role but hello he was so deeply impacted about that maze), The Sixteenth Minute, 'Til Death Do Us Part (and many more). After which I watch so much that I bring myself to tears. I will eat Ice Cream Swirl in a waffle cone cause that's my fav. food and spend the next hour reflecting on the year since the last Pact Night holiday as I have grown to accept my love for John/Andrew. It is a healthy obsession since he fills me with hope!!!:)
